Obituary of Geraldine Annette James

Funeral Services for Geraldine “Gerrie” Annette James of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. James Dodd, pastor of Millwood Baptist Church near Silex, MO will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Gomer, Sean Gomer, Jason James, Greg Wade, Camden Gomer and Cain Gomer. Mrs. James, 73, passed away Saturday evening, February 29, 2020 at her home near Winfield. Born July 13. 1946 in Alton, IL, she was the daughter of Warren and Norma Phillips Grable. She was a 1964 graduate of Alton High School; and earned her B.S. Degree in English from SIUE (Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville) in 1968. She was united in marriage on October 14, 1983 in Godfrey, IL to Terry Glenn James. Gerrie and Terry met at the race track where he raced stock cars. They enjoyed a lot of weekends at the race track. Gerrie worked for many years as a paralegal for Emerson Electric in St. Louis, MO. She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Norma Grable. Survivors include her beloved husband of 36 years, Terry James of Winfield; her children: Leigh Wade and her husband, Greg, of Moscow Mills, MO, Stephen Gomer and his wife, Nancy, of O’Fallon, MO, Sean Gomer of Winfield, and Jason T. James of Florida; five grandchildren: Alexis, Courtney, Camden, Cadence and Cain; and one great-grandchild, Trent. She also leaves one brother, Phillip Grable and his wife, Sharon, of Rosedale, IL; nieces, nephews, several other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
