Wilbert U. Dickmeyer A Mass of Christian Burial for Wilbert U. Dickmeyer of Winfield, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Military Honors will be provided at the cemetery by the Old Monroe American Legion Post. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Burkemper, Butch Westhoff, Bob Padella, Vernon Burkemper, Marty Mennemeyer and Charlie Gnade. Mr. Dickmeyer, 84, died Saturday morning, February 25, 2006 at his home near Winfield. Born July 28, 1921 near Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Walter Conrad and Sophia Catherine Unfer Dickmeyer. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, he was a 1939 graduate of Winfield High School. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force from September 3, 1942 until January 11, 1946. He was united in marriage on August 7, 1944 in Old Monroe to Edythe E. Hoelting. He was employed for many years as a flooring installer for Hinges Interior, retiring in July, 1983. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local #1310. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe, and the Winfield VFW Post #5517. Mr. Dickmeyer was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe and the Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sophia Dickmeyer; one brother, Robert Lee Dickmeyer; and one sister, Ruth Marie Dickmeyer. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Edythe Dickmeyer of Winfield; three sons: John Richard "Rich" Dickmeyer and his wife Dixie, of O'Fallon, MO, Thomas Dickmeyer and his wife, Jaci, of Winfield, and James S. Dickmeyer of Winfield; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves two brothers: Walter Dickmeyer, Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Elsberry, MO and Wendell Dickmeyer and his wife, Millie, of Easton, PA; one sister, Naomi Sommer of Old Monroe; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. A Prayer Service and American Legion Service will be held during visitation at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church.
