A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Andrew Jungermann of Moscow Mills, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Eric Gentemann, Ted Burkemper, Jason Schlesinger, Scott Kelly, Craig Jungermann, Elizabeth Jungermann, Luke Hemphill and Chris Toney.
Mr. Jungermann, 80, died Monday afternoon, March 20, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born August 12, 1925 in Wentzville, MO, he was the son of the late George and Clara Carter Jungermann. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from March 24, 1944 until being honorably discharged December 2, 1945. He was a P.O.W. in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe during his service. He was united in marriage on July 26, 1947 in Flint Hill, MO to Grace Agnes Peine. This union was blessed with seven children: Ken, Mary Jo, Jean, Nancy, Shirley, Rob and Jim. He was the owner and operator of the Jungermann Store (Grocery & Feed) in Flint Hill, Jungermann Realty, J & S Developments and the Old Monroe Grain Elevator until retiring in 1995. He was the Bank of Old Monroe Director for 40 years and the President for 20 years. He was also the President of Community Opportunities in Troy, MO. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe, Old Monroe Knights of Columbus and the Old Monroe American Legion Post #420.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara Jungermann; one brother, Charles Jungermann and one infant sister, Lucille Jungermann.
Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Grace Jungermann of Moscow Mills; three sons: Ken Jungermann and his wife, Janis, of Jay, OK, Rob Jungermann and his wife, Joann, of Moscow Mills and Jim Jungermann of Moscow Mills; four daughters: Mary Jo Gentemann and her husband, Richard, of O'Fallon, MO, Jean Burkemper and her husband, Donald, of Clarksville, MO, Nancy Schlesinger and her husband, Ronald, of Winfield, MO and Shirley Kelly and her husband, Karl of Winfield; one brother, Harvard Jungermann and his wife, Marian, of Wentzville; one sister, Lorine Opfer of Wentzville; one sister-in-law, Dolores Jungermann of Flint Hill; thirteen grandchildren: Angela Jungermann, Elizabeth Jungermann, Kimberly Jungermann, Eric Genteman, Amanda Hemphill and her husband, Luke, Ted Burkemper, Jason Schlesinger and his wife, Tricia, Misty Toney and her husband, Chris, Scott Kelly, Jamie Kelly, Rachel Jungermann, Craig Jungermann and Clara Jungermann; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. An American Legion Service and Knights of Columbus Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. during the visitation. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church. Memorials may be made to Masses, I.C.C.
