Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Clyde Herbert Beck Funeral services for Clyde Herbert Beck of Chillicothe, MO (formerly of Foley, MO) were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Missouri Baptist Home - North Chapel in Chillicothe. Rev. James Morgan of the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, MO and Rev. Steve Jones, Director of the Missouri Baptist Homes in Farmington, MO, officiated with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Railey, Paul Graf, Andy Graf, Brian Morgan, James Morgan, Josh Morgan, Jim Arnold, Brad Eschenbach, Ruthie Meyers, Walt Miller, Bill Oberkrom and Chuck Stoner. Mr. Beck, 88, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Missouri Baptist Home - North in Chillicothe, MO. Born August 25, 1917 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Frank Marion and Anna Martha Patterson Beck. He was a 1935 graduate of Central High School in St. Louis, MO. In 1936, he attended Brown Business College in St. Louis, MO. He was united in marriage on May 18, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to Norma Helen Meyers. This union was blessed with four children: Elaine, Carol, Stephen and Robert. He served his country in the U.S. Army from May 23, 1945 until June 23, 1946. He was employed for 46 years at U.S. Steel in St. Louis and Kansas City, MO, retiring in 1984 as office manager. Mr. Beck was ordained as a Deacon on September 25, 1955 at the Winfield Baptist Church in Winfield, MO. He later attended Second Baptist Church in Liberty, MO, where he was ordained a Deacon Emeritus in 1996. He served as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and a variety of other roles in his church. He was a volunteer for the Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO, the American Cancer Society, and RSVP of Chillicothe. Most recently, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Beck; two brothers: Ivan Beck and Fred Beck; three sisters: Ruby Hyland, Marjorie Benedict and Juanita Boehmer; and his beloved wife of 64 years, Norma Beck who passed away October 28, 2003. Survivors include two sons: Stephen Beck of Columbia, MO and Robert "Bob" Beck and his wife, Shari, of Gladstone, MO; two daughters: Elaine Graf and her husband, Paul, of Warrenton, MO and Carol Railey and her husband, Charles, of Foley, MO; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Missouri Baptist Home - North in Chillicothe, MO. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Whispering Winds Cemetery in Winfield, MO.
