Fr. Robert Zinser of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry and Fr. Frank Koeninger of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawk Point, MO will officiate with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Military Honors will be provided at the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Angela Sobery, Jeff Koeninger, Craig Koeninger, Diane Koeninger, Debra Koeninger, Daniel Koeninger and Dustin Koeninger. Mr. Koeninger, 79, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born October 7, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Frank, Sr. and Louise Kraemer Koeninger. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from February 21, 1945 until being honorably discharged December 12, 1946. He was united in marriage on October 23, 1948 to Eunice Bernadine Robben. This union was blessed with three children: Edwin, Jr., Donald and Judith. He was employed for many years as a machinist specialist for Barenco Corporation in St. Louis, MO until retiring in 1989. Mr. Koeninger was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers-Local #41 in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank, Sr. and Louise Koeninger; and one brother, Frank Koeninger, Jr. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Eunice Koeninger of Elsberry; two sons: Edwin J. Koeninger, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of St. Louis, MO and Donald Koeninger and his wife, Donna, of Linn Creek, MO; one daughter, Judith Walker of Elsberry; seven grandchildren: Craig Koeninger, Angela Sobery, Jeffrey Koeninger, Diane Koeninger, Debra Koeninger, Daniel Koeninger and Dustin Koeninger; four great-grandchildren: Sabrina Sobery, Clara Sobery, Isiah Koeninger and Mary Ellen Koeninger. He also leaves one sister, Dolorosa "Dollie" Hughes of St. Louis; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2006.
