Carter Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Reiva Annalice Cox Funeral services for Reiva Annalice Cox of Leavenworth, KS (formerly of Elsberry, MO), were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Connie Atchley, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church officiated with a burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren: Louis Houston, Gene Houston, Tena Houston, Cathy Hammack, Kim Cox, Kris Cox and Kelli Culp. Mrs. Cox, 91, died early Thursday morning, June 29, 2006 at Providence Place in Kansas City, KS. Born October 6, 1914 in Wabaunsee County, KS, she was the daughter of William Clarence and Florence Litke Roberts. After graduating high school, she attended Chillicothe Business College for one year. She was united in marriage on September 3, 1933 in Council Bluffs, IA to Edward Palmer Cox. This union was blessed with three children: Susan, Roberta and Bill. She was employed for 13 years as a high school secretary for the Lincoln County R-II School District in Elsberry, MO. She was a member of the Elsberry First Christian Church where she was involved in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star-Chapter 39 and the NTRA (Non-Teachers Retirement Association). She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Roberts; her son-in-law, Charles Hammack; and her beloved husband of 33 years, Edward Palmer Cox, who died January 26, 1967. Survivors include two daughters: Susan Hammack of Leavenworth, KS and Roberta Houston of Elsberry, MO; one son, Bill Cox and his wife, Lorene, of Lee Summit, MO; seven grandchildren: Cathy Hammack, Louis Houston, Gene Houston, Tena Houston, Kelli Culp, Kim Cox and Kris Cox; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Monday, July 3, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry.
