Obituary of Viola May Kohenskey

Funeral Services for Viola May Kohenskey of Winfield, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Mark Payne, pastor of Calvary Chapel in Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery in Winfield. Mrs. Kohenskey, 92, passed away Saturday morning, September 11, 2021 at Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO. Born October 22, 1928 in Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of Oscar and Pluma Cora Beasley Grimsley. Viola was united in marriage in St. Charles, MO to Charles Fredrick Kohenskey. Following her husband’s death, Viola became a real estate developer in the Winfield area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Pluma Grimsley; her beloved husband, Fred Kohenskey on August 22, 1994; her daughter-in-law, Pam Kohenskey in December, 2020; and one grandson, Larry Dean Kohenskey, Jr. in 2011. Survivors include her step-son: Larry Kohenskey, Sr. of Troy, MO; one grandson, Charles David “Chuck” Kohenskey and his wife, Cherie, of Troy, MO; six great-grandchildren: Samantha Kohenskey, Larry Kohenskey, III, Thomas Kohenskey, Beonnicca Kohenskey, Zackery and Krystal Kohenskey; and five great, great-grandchildren. Viola also leaves her real estate associate, Brent Bowman of Winfield; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021, and from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
