Obituary of Robert Samuel Turnbull

Funeral Services for Robert Samuel Turnbull of Foley, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Pastor Fielding Poe, pastor of Winfield First Baptist Church will officiate, with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Laws, Quentin Laws, Steven Sharpe, Russell Sitton, Craig Stonebraker, Scott Mills, Larry Noble and Tony Noble. Robert, 83, passed away Saturday evening, April 20, 2024 at Sunterra Springs in Dardenne Prairie, MO . Born July 28, 1940 in the Apex Community near Elsberry, he was the son of Trevey K. and Irene Bernice Johnson Turnbull. Robert was united in marriage on June 20, 1970 in Foley, MO to Karen Lynn Crenshaw. Robert worked as a Teamster for Pace Construction, retiring on August 1, 2003. He was a life member of the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and Teamsters Local #682. Bob Robert, as he was affectionately called, was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to hunt, loved to fish and was always ready in the spring to look for mushrooms. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Trevey and Irene Turnbull; two brothers: Richard “Dick” Turnbull and Jack Turnbull; and one sister, Judy Mills. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Karen Turnbull of Foley; one special “daughter” Belinda Farris-Laws of O’Fallon, MO; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Laird of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, Barbara Turnbull of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
