Obituary of Ronald Edgar Vernon

Funeral Services for Ronald Edgar Vernon of Winfield, MO will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Larry Gallaher, pastor of Asbury Chapel in Foley, MO will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Blackwell, Landon Blackwell, Alex Carnahan, Liam Carnahan, Cameron Sprague and TJ Butler. Ron, 87, passed away Friday afternoon, October 11, 2024 at his home. Born June 17, 1937 in Tipton, OK, he was the son of Nathan Edgar and Pauline Powers Vernon. He was united in marriage on May 27, 1960 in St. Louis, MO to Wilma Fay Smith. This union was blessed with two daughters: Christine and Jennifer. Ron worked as a Computer Operator for St. Louis County Government. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Pauline Vernon; and his brother, Danny Douglas Vernon. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Wilma Vernon of Winfield; their daughters: Christine Vernon of Clarksville, MO and Jennifer Blackwell and her husband, Christopher, of Eolia, MO; and eight grandchildren. Ron also leaves two sisters: Peggy Ann Ross of Springdale, AR and Mary Beth Martin of Jacksonville, AR; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
