Obituary of Irvin Alfred Morris

A Celebration of Life for Irvin “Porky” Morris will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Skyway Farms near Elsberry; with inurnment in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Irvin Alfred “Porky” Morris (81) of Foley, MO was born on July 4, 1943 in St. Charles, MO, the oldest of five children of Herman Alfred “Ham” and Mildred Virginia “Genny” Sweazey Morris. He passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, November 16, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, MO. Irv served his country during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from August 22, 1961 until he was honorably discharged on October 26, 1961. Porky worked as an over-the-road trucker for many years. He was employed for 15+ years for NAPA Auto Parts store in Elsberry as “just the driver.” He was united in marriage on July 8, 2017 in Foley to Valerie Jo Yeager. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman “Ham” and Virginia “Genny” Morris; and one son, Derek Morris. Survivors include his beloved wife of seven years, Valerie Morris of Foley; one son, Scott; one daughter, Candy; two step-daughters: Jamie Gladney and her husband, Joe, of Elsberry, and Amanda Penrod and her husband, Eric, of Wooldridge, MO; and four step-grandchildren: Beau and Rylee Gladney, and Sophia and Grant Penrod. Porky also leaves one brother, Roy Morris and his wife, Stephanie, of Elsberry; three sisters: Rita Smith and her husband, Vernon “Smitty”, of Elsberry, Kay Brown and her husband, Ronnie, of Alabama, and June Schaffer and her husband, Larry, of Union, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
