Obituary of Victor H. Burkemper

A Memorial Mass for Victor Henry Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. His body was donated to St. Louis University Medical School in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Burkemper, 87, died Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2008 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO. Born May 6, 1920 in Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Alex and Rose Wehde Burkemper. He was united in marriage on October 3, 1942 in O'Fallon, MO to Esther Marie Wilke. This union was blessed with three children: Bob, Don and Gene. He was a lifelong farmer and served on the Lincoln County Soil and Water District Board for 10 years. He also served on the Winfield R-IV School Board. Mr. Burkemper was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Rose Burkemper; two sisters: Evelyn Cook and Katy Hill; and one daughter-in-law, Linda Burkemper. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Esther Burkemper of O'Fallon; three sons: Bob Burkemper of Annada, MO, Don Burkemper and his wife, Jean, of Clarksville, MO, and Gene Burkemper and his wife, Terry, of Brashear, MO; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Art Burkemper and his wife, Vera, and Chris Burkemper and his wife, Virginia, all of Old Monroe; three sisters: Theresa Lindemann and her husband, Ed, of Arkansas, Rose Ann Coose of Florida, and Sister Wilhelmina Burkemper of Oldenburg, IN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice, the Elsberry Health Care Center, or the Immaculate Conception Building Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
