Obituary of Doris L. Coffey

Funeral Services for Doris LaVerne Coffey of Winfield, MO, will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Steve Minkler, pastor of the New Galilee Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Coffey, 82, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 15, 2008 at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy, MO. Born March 13, 1926 in Hudson, IL she was the daughter of George and Mable Carpenter Arbuckel. She was united in marriage on November 26, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN to Robert Howard Coffey. She was employed for many years as a manager at El Dorado Estates in St. Charles, MO, before retiring in 1988. Mrs. Coffey was a member of the New Galilee Christian Church near Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mable Arbuckel; five brothers: Richard Arbuckel, Kenneth Arbuckel, Edwin Arbuckel, Milford Arbuckel and Carroll Arbuckel; four sisters: Ruth Burge, Betty Tomlinson, Buelah Arbuckel and Marjorie Peasley; and her beloved husband of 48 years, Robert Coffey who died June 29, 2003. Survivors include one son, Stephen Coffey and his wife, Debra, of Winfield; two daughters: Connie Schmerbauch and her husband, Irwin, of Collinsville, IL, and Sheila Tebbe and her husband, Charles, of Pocahontas, IL; one step-son, Robert Coffey of Bend, OR; one step-daughter, Faith Hall of Bend, OR; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters: Ruby Hatcher of Brazil, IN, and Evelyn Hicks and her husband, Edwin, of Bloomington, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
