Obituary of Gerald Louis Ell

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald Louis Ell, Sr. of Foley, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Kleinheider, Joshua Kleinheider, Stephen Ell, Cory Ell, Adam Ell, John Ozee and Joseph Ell. Mr. Ell, 75, passed away early Sunday morning, April 20, 2008 at his home in Foley. Born October 7, 1932 in St. Peters, MO he was the son of Alphonse and Magdalen Schneider Ell. A veteran of the Korean conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Army from February 26, 1953 until being honorably discharged on February 4, 1955. He was united in marriage on September 1, 1956 in Cottleville, MO to Elizabeth Jane Wood. This union was blessed with four children: Gerald, James, Jeffrey and Nancy. He was employed for several years as a truck mechanic for Southern Cross Lumber Company. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Old Monroe. Mr. Ell was a member of the American Legion Post #313 in St. Peters, and the Teamsters Local #682 in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Magdalen Ell; and one sister, Marjorie Roeper. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Ell of Foley; three sons: Gerald Ell, Jr. of O'Fallon, MO, James Ell and his special friend, Diane Ritcher, of Foley, and Jeffrey Ell and his wife, Mitzi, of Foley; one daughter, Nancy Kleinheider and her husband, Michael, of Foley; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother: Cyril Ell of St. Peters; five sisters: Jeanette Echele and her husband, Leo, of St. Charles, MO, Mary Ann Dunnermann and her husband, Larry, of St. Charles, Patricia House of St. Charles, Doris Ohlms and her husband, Larry, of St. Charles, and Carol Simpson and her husband, Bob, of Harvester, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
