Obituary of Richard Harry Turnbull

Funeral Services for Richard Harry "Dick" Turnbull of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Copher, Steven Brown, Jason Fears, Jamie Zumwalt, Darren Mills and Scott Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Clements, David Perez, David Brooksher, James Serles and Forrest Cowling. Mr. Turnbull, 72, passed away Sunday evening, April 20, 2008 at his home in Elsberry. Born March 16, 1936 in Apex, MO, he was the son of Trevey K and Irene Bernice Johnson Turnbull. He was united in marriage on September 20, 1963 in New Hope, MO to Peggy Jean Tannehill. This union was blessed with one daughter, Melissa. He was employed for several years as a carpenter at Rock-Tenn in Wright City, MO. Mr. Turnbull was a member of the Carpenters Union #1008 in Louisiana, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trevey and Irene Turnbull; his parents-in-law: Nelson and Hazel Tannehill; two brothers-in-law: "Dutch" Lavern Mills and Melvin Laird; and one brother, Jack Turnbull Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Peggy Turnbull of Elsberry; one daughter, Melissa Sickmeier and her husband, Jeff, of Elsberry; their friend who is like a daughter, Shelly Fears and her husband, Jason, of Elsberry; and three grandchildren: Katrina, Jeffrey and Marissa Sickmeier; and three "adopted" grandchildren: Anthony "Tony" Copher, Britany Brown and Steven Brown. He also leaves one brother, Robert "Bob" Turnbull and his wife, Karen, of Foley, MO; two sisters: Betty Laird and Judy Mills both of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
