Obituary of Jody Ligon Wood

Jody Ligon Wood Funeral services for Jody Ligon Wood of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. David Rubemeyer, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Pflasterer, Jerry Wagner, Dennis Hammack, Keith Palmer, Joe Edwards and Terry Shaw. Mrs. Wood, 56, passed away early Thursday morning, March 4, 2010 at her home in Elsberry, MO. Born June 25, 1953 in Louisiana, MO, she was the daughter of Fred Eugene and Joan Baker Smith. She was a 1971 graduate of Clopton High School. She was united in marriage on April 8, 1972 to James Michael Ligon in Elsberry. This union was blessed with two children: James Michael, Jr. and Lori Lynn. James Ligon, Sr. passed away January 16, 1994. She was married again on June 25, 1998 to Richard Lynn "Rick" Wood in Elsberry. She was a follower of Christ and a member of the Elsberry First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Smith who passed away March 11, 2001; and her first husband, James Michael Ligon, Sr. Survivors include her father and step-mother: Fred and Thelma Smith of Elsberry; her beloved husband of 11 years, Rick Wood of Elsberry; one son, James Michael Ligon, Jr. and his wife, Shellie, of Elsberry; one daughter: Lori Lynn Javaux and her husband, Jeremy, of Elsberry, one step-son, Joshua Wood, of Elsberry; one step-daughter, Juliet Hailey and her husband, Kevin, of Elsberry; and four grandchildren: Michael and Kade Ligon and Hailee and Ashlyn Javaux. She also leaves three brothers: Freddy Smith and his wife, Kathy of Old Monroe, MO, Charles Smith of Elsberry, and Ronnie Smith of Troy, MO; one sister, Shirley Sorrell and her husband, LeRoy of Troy; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
