Funeral services for Juanita Monell Strobl of Denison, TX, formerly of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Conrad Cheatham, pastor of the Elsberry ARPresbyterian Church will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Henderson, Vance Brooksher, Aaron Brooksher, Brandon Strobl, Stephen Strobl, Jeffrey Strobl, Danny Prinster and Nicholas Turner.
Mrs. Strobl, 79, died early Saturday morning, February 3, 2007 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX. Born October 9, 1927 in Indianola, NE, she was the daughter of Richard "Dick" Henton and Edith Mary Skinner Brown. She was united in marriage in 1946 in Elsberry to Michael Carl Strobl. This union was blessed with nine children: Julia Ann, Juanita Elaine, Mary Frances, Michele Jean, Phyllis Lynn, Michael Carl Jr., David Eugene, Dale Thomas and Vincent Edward. She later married William "Bill" Strobl in 1986 near Foley, MO. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club of Pottsboro, TX, where she chaired the Cancer Aid and Research Committee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Edith Brown; her first husband, Mike Strobl; one daughter, Phyllis Dryden; and one granddaughter, Katherine Shirley.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Strobl of Troy, MO; four daughters: Julia Chapman of Pottsboro, TX, Elaine Laverspere of Pottsboro, Mary Shaw and her husband, Albert, of Lawton, OK, and Michele "Mickie" Henderson and her husband, Dickie, of Clarksville, MO; four sons: Michael Strobl, Jr. of Pottsboro, TX, David Strobl and his wife, Jane, of Quinlan, TX, Dale Strobl of Pottsboro, and Vincent Strobl of Oklahoma City, OK; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers: Richard Brown of Elsberry, John Brown and his wife, Barbara, and Roger Brown, all of the state of California; three sisters: Nancy Taft of Elsberry, Iris Presley and her husband, Mike, of Troy, MO, and Kay Montaque of the state of California; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p .m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. A visitation was held Monday evening at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, TX. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
