Obituary of Orval Dickbernd

Orval W. Dickbernd Funeral services for Orval William Dickbernd of Old Monroe, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. Rev. Jeanne Lischer, church pastor, officiated with burial in St. Paul UCC Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Dickbernd, Mark Rowland, Robert Hirtz, Don Bothe, Robert Ostmann and Randall Henke. Mr. Dickbernd, 88, died Saturday morning, June 21, 2003 at Lincoln County Caring Center in Troy, MO. Born December 8, 1914 in Winfield, MO, he was the son of the late Herman H. and Caroline Meyer Dickbernd. A lifelong resident of Old Monroe, he was employed as a parts supplier/manager at McDonnell-Douglas, retiring in 1979 after 30 years. He was a member of the Machinist Union, Local #837 in St. Louis. Mr. Dickbernd was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. Besides his parents, Herman and Caroline Dickbernd, he was preceded in death by one brother, Albert "Rip" Dickbernd; one sister, Nora Catherine Schacher; and one niece, Juanita Schacher. Survivors include three nephews: Marvin "Sonny" Schacher of Old Monroe, James Dickbernd and his wife, June, of Ocala, FL, and Wayne Dickbernd and his wife, Eileen, of St. Paul, MO; several great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
