Obituary of Ardena Bowles

Ardena Bowles Gravesides services for Bessie Ardena Bowles of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2003 at Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Rev. Gene Stewart officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Bowles, Buddy Bowles, Donnie Kinsler, Kenneth Watts, Robert Watts, and Ben Bowles. Mrs. Bowles, 96, died Thursday evening, September 18, 2003 at Elsberry Healthcare Center near Elsberry. Born June 7, 1907 in Lincoln County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Pascal and Nellie Watts Halley. She was a 1924 graduate of Paynesville High School in Paynesville, MO. She was united in marriage in April 16, 1938 in Elsberry to Thomas "Bud" W. Bowles. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church near Elsberry. Besides her parents, Pascal and Nellie Halley, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Ethel Ferguson, who died in March 1992, and Lois Bowles, who died in April 1991; and her beloved husband, Thomas "Bud" Bowles, who died May 25, 1987. Survivors include two nephews: Tom Bowles of Clarksville, MO, and Bill Zumwalt of Elsberry; two nieces: Dorothy Reid of Eolia, MO, and Linda Korasick of Columbia, MO; several great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
