Obituary of Edith Roam

Edith May Roam Funeral services for Edith May Roam of Elsberry, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Elsberry. Rev. Bill Claiborn, pastor of the Christian Church in Crocker, MO, officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Roam, Terry Reese, John Seabaugh, Curtis Havner, Eugene Turner, Gary Crawford and Homer Wilkes. Mrs. Roam, 95, died Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2003 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born May 27, 1908 in Montrose, CO, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Etta Boyd Stringer. She was united in marriage on March 28, 1928 in St. Louis, MO to William Everett Roam. She and her husband farmed for many years in the Crocker, MO area where they raised their family. After moving to the Elsberry area to be near their son, they became members of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Elsberry. Besides her parents, Thomas and Mary Stringer, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Charlie Stringer, Thomas Stringer, Glenn Stringer and Dewey Stringer; two sisters: Ada Boyde and Parlee Stringer; their daughter, Eleanor Fern Zeiser, who died in 1981; one granddaughter, Dianne Luckett, who died in 1998; and her beloved husband of 69 years, William "Bill" Roam, who died December 13, 1997. Survivors include their son, Douglas Roam and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Elsberry; one grandson, William Michael Roam and his wife, Karen, of New Melle, MO; one granddaughter, Karen Reese and her husband, Terry, of Foley, MO; five great-grandchildren: Michelle Seabaugh and her husband, John, of Winfield, MO, Gabrielle, Michael and Sarah Reese of Foley, and Mikelle Luckett of Atlanta, GA; several other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Elsberry.
