Obituary of Bernard Tippit

Bernard "Bernie" Tippit Funeral services for Bernard "Bernie" Tippit of Montgomery City, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Father Gregory Schmidt, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Rogers, Mark Adkison, Jerry Sharpe, Bill Tippit, Jason Rogers, and Jake Hemmer. Mr. Tippit, 60, died Friday evening, January 9, 2004 at his home near Montgomery City, MO. Born May 14, 1943 in Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Willis and Mildred Lehman Tippit. He was united in marriage on March 9, 1963 in Indian Mound, TN to Linda Sue Hardin. He was employed for 33 years as a sheet metal assembler and riveter for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Winfield Lions Club in Winfield. Besides his parents, Willis and Mildred Tippit, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony "Tony" Tippit, who died October 8, 2000. Survivors include his beloved wife of 40 years, Sue Tippit of Montgomery City, MO; one son, Travis Tippit and his fianc�e, Beth Lindsey, of Winfield; one daughter-in-law, Tricia Tippit of Winfield, MO; and two grandchildren: Jeffrey and Maria Tippit. He also leaves three brothers: Thomas Tippit and his wife, Phyllis of North Carolina, Allan Tippit and his wife, Glenda, of Tennessee, and Bill Tippit and his wife, Jewell, of St. Louis, MO; three sisters: Rita Brandenberg of Winfield, Norma Rogers and her husband, Ronald, of Winfield, and Diane Tippit of Troy, MO; several aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
