Obituary of Evelyn Spotswood

Evelyn A. Spotswood Graveside services for Evelyn Adonis Spotswood of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at New Hope Cemetery in Thompson, MO. Rev. Raymond Doussard, chaplain for AmHeart Hospice, will officiate. Mrs. Spotswood, 80, died Saturday morning, February 25, 2006 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born September 19, 1925 in Anna, IL, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Carrie E. Clapp Nance. She was a 1943 graduate of Normandy High School in North St. Louis, MO. She was united in marriage on September 15, 1951 in Berkley, MO to Stanley Levine Spotswood. She was employed for many years as a stenographer and secretary at Monsanto in O'Fallon, MO, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Berkley, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Carrie Nance. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Stanley L. Spotswood of Mexico, MO; three sons: Stephen Lee Spotswood and his wife, Lisa, of St. Charles, MO, Stanley Raymond Spotswood and his wife, Amy, of Waynesville, NC, and Keith Allen Spotswood of Greenville, SC; two daughters: Terry Robin Treadway and her husband, Paul, of Breckenridge Hills, MO, and Sandy Kay Williams and her husband, David, of Warrenton, MO; nine grandchildren: Dawn Hochman, Kerry Roberts, Melissa Treadway, Hannah Spotswood, Lydia Spotswood, Sherra Spotswood, Stephen G. Spotswood, Nicole Spotswood and Anna Lee Spotswood; and three great-grandchildren: Ali Roberts, Chris Roberts and Gavin Hochman. She also leaves one brother, Kenneth Nance of Moscow Mills, MO; one sister, Merida Zumbahlen of Morris, IL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
