Obituary of M. William Sullenger

Murry William "Bill" Sullenger Funeral services for William "Bill" Sullenger of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Tom Sullenger of Maryville, MO will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Manion, Garry Wayne Stewart, Darrel Williams, Tim Sullenger, Kent Sullenger, Garry Lee Stewart, Dixie Williams, Sara Manion and Erin Sullenger; honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Watts, Jim Henry, Gene Robinson, Richard Harding, Jerome Ballman and Robert Watts. Mr. Sullenger, 79, died Sunday morning, February 18, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born March 24, 1927 in Paynesville, MO, he was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Doris Richards Sullenger. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from June 8, 1945 until January 13, 1947. He was united in marriage on January 6, 1947 in Denver, CO to Wilma Irene Heathers. This union was blessed with two children, Thomas William and Pamela Kay. He was employed for eighteen years as a biological technician at the U.S. Plant Materials Center near Elsberry, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church near Elsberry. He was a lifetime member of the Elsberry VFW Post #9064. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sullenger; his mother, Doris Inlow; and one brother, Robert Darrel Weeks. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Wilma Sullenger of Elsberry; one son, Rev. Tom Sullenger and his wife, Candie, of Maryville, MO; one daughter, Pam Stewart and her husband, Garry L., of Elsberry; five grandchildren: Sara (Michael) Manion, Garry Wayne Stewart, Tim (Erin) Sullenger, Dixie (Darrel) Williams and Kent Sullenger; and four great-grandchildren: Kristen, Emily and Carter Manion and Kyle Williams. He also leaves one sister, Patricia Sharon York of Louisiana, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
