Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death John Delbert Heitman A Mass of Christian Burial for John Delbert Heitman of Moscow Mills, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Heitman, Rick Heitman, Ricky Anthony, Matt Burkemper, Dwayne Harrison, Tom Heitman, Howard Burkemper and Bert Heitman. Mr. Heitman, 73, died Tuesday evening, January 17, 2006 at his residence in Moscow Mills, MO. Born October 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Frank and Zita (nee Witte) Heitman. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until 1955. He was united in marriage on October 22, 1955 in Old Monroe to Rose Ann Anthony. This union was blessed with seven children: Debbie, Dotty, David, Danny, Dennis, Darlene and Dede. He worked for many years as an operating engineer for Local 513. A lifelong resident of the Old Monroe area, Mr. Heitman ran his own backhoe/commercial construction business in Lincoln County. He was a member of Local 513 Operating Engineers, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe. Following his retirement, his pastime and hobby was genealogy - building an extensive family tree with several thousand names. Besides his parents, Frank and Zita Heitman, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Cecil Heitman and Larry Heitman; and one daughter, Debbie Heitman who died in 1974. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Rose Ann Heitman; three sons: Danny Heitman and his wife, Rita, of Old Monroe, Dennis Heitman of Old Monroe and David Heitman of Troy, MO; and three daughters: Dotty Pollard and her husband, Terry, of Lake St. Louis, MO, Darlene Schwent and her husband, Dave, of O'Fallon, MO and Dede Hance and her husband, Bryan, of House Springs, MO. He also leaves one brother, Albert Heitman of O'Fallon; one sister, Eleanor Hoelting of Elsberry, MO; ten grandchildren: Breanne, Brandon, Adam and Alex Pollard, Samantha, Trevor, Travis and Sabrina Hance, Joseph and Jordan Schwent; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. A Prayer Service was held at the funeral home during the visitation. A short visitation was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
