Alvin E. Colbert, Sr posted a condolence
Saturday, December 13, 2014
I want to start with an apology. I did not know Tyler or his friend Michael Brown, and only recently learned of their untimely deaths. This is not the apology however.
I apologize for all of America, as we failed to commemorate these lives lost. Tyler Teasley, and the Michael Brown that died with him deserved more. Their lives were every bit as precious any young lives needlessly lost in this country.
To the parents, family, and friends, of these young men, I am sorry. I was compelled to reach out to you, but did not know how to do it without bringing up old hurts. Then I realized that no matter how old the hurt is for the country, or the community, it will never be old for you.
My organization created a you-tube video in response to young lives lost needlessly. Police shootings of unarmed persons, as well as the numerous school shootings in America. I can't make up for your loss, and I can't go back in time to support you when you were at your lowest, but I can stand up now. I included Tyler and Michael in the video, and released it to the world. http://youtu.be/nZ0ixUtHnAg
I pray that you (or America) will never forget, but find peace. Let the legacy of our fallen youth be that their death sparked a conversation, that led to a nation regaining its core values, and recognizing the sanctity of life.
Again please accept my apology, and know that I will Stand for your loved ones.
